@3ACCENTS FOR RPG CHARACTERS
==========================
I use accents for races but mainly accents for regions - and different
characters almost always have different voices. The only problem with
giving races set voices is the inevitable racial stereotypes this develops.
Having said which, a few of the ones that have appeared in my games
recently include: [This is a forgotten realms based campaign, using
the 1st edition sets, before TSR got silly]
Dalelanders Broad yorkshire
Waterdeep Clear Surrey
Lizard men Lotsss of sssssss, a bit like alicssse cooper! :)
Orcs Deep, gutteral - not necessarily stupid
Barbarians "Ugh", Conan style. :)
A bit of stereotyping there, I admit. Then you get to some of the characters
from various campaigns:
Herbert Has 3 voices, a bad noble voice, a bad german voice,
(see above) and his native "normal" voice, not unlike mine.
Neric Thin, squeaky voice. Quite funny, especially from
(human thief) a big human.
Selgarn Cut glass Surrey
Kelgar d'Argouge - French, but very bad, because of my linguistics.
Its a lot of fun. Its also a good way into a character - develop his/her
voice, and the rest will follow quite quickly, in my experience. It
also helps new players get to grips with it all!
